* Entry to the Royal Easter Show carnival area will be free after 6pm, until 11pm (Thursday to Sunday).

The Royal Easter Show had its beginnings 168 years ago, beginning as a purely agricultural event to help the fledgling colony develop a sound farming economy. The first A&P show was held in 1843.

Since then the Royal Easter Show has gone from strength to strength. Our exciting entertainment each year sees annual visitors of up to 82,000 people, making the Royal Easter Show New Zealand's largest family event. 

This is a very special year for the Royal Easter Show -- it's our 100th year at ASB Showgrounds! Have a look at our show's history to find out more. We've got some excellent entertainment that we're really excited to share with you. Explore our site to see it all.

As part of our celebration we're running the Hershey's Royal Easter Show Classic Star Talent Quest. If you think you're a talented entertainer, this is your chance to win big! First prize is $10,000, second prize is $3,000 and third prize is $2,000. Entry is free and you have until 5pm Tuesday 19 April 2011 to apply. If you haven't visited the Royal Easter Show for a while, this is an excellent year to come and see us. Our pavilions recently underwent a $30m redevelopment, which sees over 18,000m2 of exhbition space -- that's a lot of retail therapy! We have goodies galore outside too.
